Ideas for a compost tumbler ?

All of the store bought tumblers are plastic and exspensive. Why couldn't I use a steel 55 gal drum for my barrel ? I have a source for free barrels that I am already using for rain barrels. Give some opinions GIM green thumbs.

if you dont need the extra speed a tumbler affords simply build one out of
bricks etc there are lots of posibilites mine i built out of wood scraps and an
old washing machine.
